Homebrew

A favorite activity at this QTH is homebrewing.  Using modest RF lab equipment, most being "flea market specials", equipment designs proceed from paper to hardware (although not as fast as desired).  Some of my favorite homebrew areas are:

  1. Single-band HF ham and shortwave receivers

  2. Single-band HF transmitters

  3. Test equipment

  4. Power transformers

  5. Power supplies

  6. Vacuum tube, BJT, JFET, MOSFET and Opamp designs using devices from the junk box

Here is an audio oscillator that was breadboarded on a Knight Kit 100-in-1 Lab kit.  The not-so-good result is shown on the scope.  Much of my lab equipment was owned by my dad WØJR.   I built the Heathkit scope in 1975 after I got my first job.  I still have the receipt - for over $500.00!
